Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone, formally called Shanghai Fengpu Industrial Zone, was established in August 1995, and it is one of the nine municipal-level industrial development zones recognized by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The Zone is located in the southern part of Fengxian District with an area of 33.38 square kilometers. Among them18.8 square kilometers were first developed (including 3 square kilometers of living area and a 3 square kilometer state-level export processing zone), with another 15 square kilometers added during the second development phase.

After about 10 years of development, the core industries are gradually gaining critical mass, including the electronic information industry, modern biology and medicine industry, advanced materials industry, power transmission and distribution equipment industry, electrical industry, etc.
