Hey, check it out! A bunch of "furry doctors" has shown up in this community in Fengpu Time:2023-11-20
Recently, the Qintang Neighborhood Committee of Fengpu Subdistrict welcomed four special friends, "furry" dog doctors. Wu Qi, the person in charge of the "PFH Therapy Dog Public Welfare Program," led volunteers and the "furry doctors" to meet with residents. As soon as these little fellows appeared, they captured the attention of the elderly. So, who are these adorable creatures? Let's go and have a look.

Ms. Wu Qi patiently introduced the name and characteristics of each therapy dog to the residents. Afterwards, without any timidity, these little fellows, led by their owners, showcased their unique talents. With skills like sitting, lying down, spinning, and acting shy, these therapy dogs won everyone's affection. The residents couldn't help but smile with joy, thoroughly enjoying the show.

As the interaction deepened, volunteers began teaching the elderly residents verbal commands and hand gestures for interacting with the therapy dogs, and group activities were organized. Each volunteer was assigned to assist one elderly person with a therapy dog. With the help of volunteers, the elderly could interact up close with the therapy dogs. Some therapy dogs leaned their heads against the palms of their hands, while others obediently stayed in their laps for gentle strokes. The sweet and gentle nature of the therapy dogs touched the hearts of the elderly, who happily interacted with them.

"I'm actually afraid of dogs, but they're all so adorable. I just petted that little gray dog, and it even let me hold it. It was really well-behaved," said Mr. Chen. "I hope to have more opportunities to meet them in the future."
Fengpu Subdistrict hopes to enhance the interaction and communication between elderly individuals and the outside world through the assistance of therapy dogs, enriching their lives. Furthermore, it also calls for increased companionship and care for the elderly, demonstrating the community's humanistic concern.
