Policy Promotion Meets Cultural Experience: Chinese, Foreign Friends Immerse Themselves in Charm of Traditional Festival Time:2025-10-10

To promote fine traditional Chinese culture and enhance cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world, the "Under the Full Moon: A Worldwide Mid-Autumn Festival Gala" recently took place at the Sea Flower Youth Activity Center. Nearly 20 foreign executives and their families from key enterprises in Fengxian District, along with international students from universities such as East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai Business School, participated in the event and immersed themselves in the charm of the traditional Chinese festival.

The event was brimming with energy. Through engaging presentations, the staff shared the rich history of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the enchanting tale of "Chang'e Flying to the Moon", and delightful customs like moon gazing, savoring mooncakes, and solving lantern riddles. This immersive experience offered foreign friends a deep dive into the essence of this cherished Chinese festival.

Then came the much-awaited ice-skin mooncake making session. With the patient guidance of professional instructors, the foreign friends eagerly got to work. From kneading the dough to wrapping the filling and pressing the molds, everyone carefully followed along. Though initially a bit awkward, they soon got the hang of it through communication and the instructors' helpful tips.

In no time, beautifully shaped and richly filled ice-skin mooncakes were ready. Everyone proudly held their creations, beaming with a sense of achievement. "It's wonderful to join this activity, make mooncakes with friends, and learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival," said a foreign friend with a smile. A family member of a French friend added, "My husband is French. We've never made mooncakes before. Bringing our child to this experience has been truly special and meaningful."

Once the mooncake making concluded, the staff guided everyone to a lantern riddle solving event. With lantern riddles spanning culture and customs, both Chinese and foreign participants engaged actively, exchanging ideas and gaining a deeper insight into Chinese culture through this delightful interaction.

During the event, the participants also enjoyed traditional Chinese delicacies like dumplings, which were met with rave reviews from the foreign friends. "As foreigners, we've learned a lot about Chinese culture through this event. These moments of cultural immersion are truly precious to us, and we're immensely grateful to the organizers for making it happen." said a foreign student. Another foreign friend said, "It was fun to make mooncakes and solve lantern riddles with friends. Even though there were a few minor challenges along the way, they actually helped us get to know each other better."

Notably, this event creatively merged policy promotion with cultural experience. It not only immersed foreign friends in the festive atmosphere of traditional holidays but also offered them a platform to familiarize themselves with local policies and better integrate into local life.
