Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom This Qingming: Meet Spring's "Limited Edition" in Fengxian Time:2026-04-09

On the first day of the Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day), Shanghai's clouds gave way to sunshine. In Paopao Park at Shanghai Fish complex in Fengxian District, the Yoshino cherry trees had reached peak bloom, drawing droves of residents and visitors who came specifically to walk the cherry blossom boulevard and fall headlong into spring.

Along the boulevard, the Yoshino cherries were in full flower. Pink-and-white petals spread across every branch, and intermittent sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a rose-gold glow over the sea of blossoms. The spot is one of the city's best-known places to take in the season, and on the holiday's opening day, many residents and tourists made the trip to experience this floral wonderland for themselves.

The Yoshino cherry planted in Paopao Park is the leading variety for spring viewing across the Shanghai area. It typically begins flowering in late March and reaches peak bloom in early April. Although each blossom lasts only about a week, the boulevard as a whole stays in viewing condition for roughly 10 to 15 days. This year's Qingming Festival lands squarely within that prime window. A word of caution: the bloom is fleeting, and a single bout of wind and rain can hasten the petals' fall. With spring at its finest and the flowers waiting for no one, residents may want to use the remaining holiday days to step into Shanghai Fish park complex and make their own spring memories along this romantic stretch of cherry blossoms.
