Fengxian Opens Third Park-and-Ride Facility, Expanding Green Transit Options for Residents Time:2026-06-03

Starting June 1, the park-and-ride (P+R) garage at East Huancheng Road Station on Metro Line 5 has officially opened, joining Shanghai's citywide public P+R parking network and giving Fengxian residents a more convenient option for traveling to and from the city center.

A reporter visited the site and found that vehicles entering from East Huancheng Road into the underground parking structure of Fengxian Powerlong Plaza can spot a prominent directional sign on the first basement level. Following the arrows roughly 10 meters leads directly to the P+R garage. From there, "Transfer to Metro Line 5" arrows on the floor guide drivers to the garage exit, where passing through a fire door brings them to the metro station entrance—the entire process takes about five minutes. The garage offers 100 park-and-ride spaces open to the public. The preferential service window runs from 5:05 a.m. to 11:47 p.m., with a flat fee of 8 yuan per entry (per day). Outside those hours, or if a driver parks without transferring to public transit, the standard rate of 9 yuan per hour applies.

Fengxian now operates P+R garages at three Metro Line 5 stations: Fengxian Xicheng, Xiaotang, and East Huancheng Road, offering a combined total of more than 300 park-and-ride spaces. The district plans to continue expanding P+R facilities at additional metro stations in line with residents' commuting needs, further supporting greener and more convenient travel and improving the overall transportation experience across the area.
