"Splendors in Flowing Light" Exhibition Buzz Continues as Fengxian Museum Launches Summer Night Viewing Time:2026-07-01

To satisfy strong visitor demand during the summer holiday season, Fengxian Museum is extending its opening hours from June 30 through August 30. The move gives visitors more evening opportunities to catch "Splendors in Flowing Light—Special Exhibition of Qianlong Period Artifacts from the Palace Museum Collection," the blockbuster exhibition currently on view.

According to the museum's announcement, the extended schedule runs as follows: Tuesday through Friday, the museum opens from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last entry at 4:30 p.m.), half an hour later than the previous 4:30 p.m. closing time. On Saturdays and Sundays, hours extend to 9:00 p.m. (last entry at 8:30 p.m.). The museum remains closed on Mondays, except on national holidays.

Museum staff said the extended hours serve a dual purpose: helping visitors avoid daytime crowds while offering relief from the summer heat. "An evening visit spares you the daytime swelter. You can take in the lights of the Shanghai Fish and the cool breeze off Jinhai Lake, which makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience." The museum also plans to roll out occasional night tours and other special events over the summer, with details to be released on its WeChat official account.

Fengxian Museum is located at 333 Hupan Road in Shanghai's Fengxian District, within the Shanghai Fish area. No reservation is required; visitors may simply walk in. On a scorching summer day, an evening trip to the museum offers a chance to step into a cultural dialogue across time, surrounded by artifacts and ambient light.
