Shanghai Metro Line 15 South Extension project commences construction Time:2023-12-25
On the morning of December 24, the construction of the south extension project of Shanghai Metro Line 15 officially commenced at Dongfang Meigu Avenue Station. Yu Fulin, Director of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission; Yuan Quan, Secretary of the Shanghai Fengxian District Committee of the Communist Party of China; Bi Xiangli, Chairman of Shanghai Shentong Metro Co., Ltd.; Wang Yiqun, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Fengxian District Committee of the Communist Party of China and District Mayor; Zhang Peirong, Chairman of Standing Committee of Shanghai Fengxian District People's Congress; Chen Yongzhang, Chairman of Shanghai Fengxian District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Cai Youming, President of the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Liu Qianwei, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Yu Ning, Vice President of Shanghai Shentong Metro Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Minshuan, President of China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., jointly inaugurated the start of construction for the south extension project of Shanghai Metro Line 15. Tang Xiaoteng, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Fengxian District Committee of the Communist Party of China, was also present.
In his speech, Mr. Wang Yiqun highlighted that the commencement of the Shanghai Metro Line 15 South Extension Project marks a momentous step for Fengxian as it enters the era of dual-track transportation, signifying a great leap forward in urban development. Fengxian will steadfastly uphold the core principles of building a People's City, with the goal of achieving early completion and operation of the project. Every effort will be made to overcome challenges and find effective solutions, with full support, coordination, and rigorous implementation, ensuring the Shanghai Metro Line 15 South Extension Project becomes a remarkable and trustworthy engineering feat that brings satisfaction to the people.
The event was also attended by Gu Yaoming, Member of Standing Committee of Shanghai Fengxian District committee and Executive Deputy District Mayor, Tian Zhe, Deputy District Mayor, Shi Ming, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Chen Yong, Vice President of China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., and Sun Wei, Vice President of Shanghai Investment Consulting Group Co., Ltd. (SICC).
The construction of the Dongfang Meigu Avenue Station, where the commencement took place, will involve pipeline relocation work before the Chinese New Year. In 2024, the construction of enclosure structures and main structures will be carried out, with the road handover planned to be completed by April 2024. "We will continue working during the Chinese New Year period to carry out pipeline relocation work, involving water supply, gas, electricity, and more," said Li Haijiao, Chief Engineer responsible for Section 4 of the Shanghai Metro Line 15 South Extension Project from China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group.
It is reported that the Shanghai Metro Line 15 South Extension Project will pass through Fengxian District and Minhang District. The line starts from Line 5 Wangyuan Road Station in Fengxian District and terminates at the operational Zizhu High-Tech Zone Station on Line 15. The project includes four stations, namely Ziguang Road Station, North Huancheng Road Station, Dongfang Meigu Avenue Station, Wangyuan Road Station, as well as one reserved station, Xizha Road Station, with Wangyuan Road Station providing interchange access to Line 5. The total length of the extension line is 10.26 kilometers, and it will be constructed fully underground. Once completed and operational, the south extension of Line 15 will cater to functional areas such as the Oriental Beauty Valley industrial park, the core area of Fengxian New City, and the Zizhu High-Tech Zone. It will establish a fast connection channel between Fengxian New City and the main urban area of Fengxian District, enhancing the level and coverage of rail transit services in Fengxian New City. In addition, it will guide and support the TOD development along the new city, strengthen the comprehensive functions of Fengxian New City as a key urban node in southern Shanghai, and contribute to the comprehensive advancement of the development and construction of the five new cities, thus fulfilling its mission of building the "five centers" with significant significance.
