The New Year's Run, a traditional sports event in Fengxian District, is highly popular among the citizens. This event is a non-competitive fun run, aiming to promote a healthier lifestyle and showcase the positive spirit of the district's residents. It aims to create a festive atmosphere of joy and harmony. Along the route, participants can engage in various fun-filled activities inspired by traditional Chinese sports, including rolling lamps, Chuiwan (lit. 'ball-hitting'), pot throwing, dragon dance, Cuju (an ancient Chinese ball game), and archery. The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a critical year for achieving the goals of the "14th Five-Year Plan." In the year, Fengxian District will fully implement the guiding principles of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection in Shanghai by promoting the construction of public sports facilities and creating a "15-minute sports life circle." Extensive efforts will be made to organize a broad range of sports and fitness activities that are closely connected to people's lives, diverse, and beneficial to the public, aiming to create a sports atmosphere where everyone can engage in fitness activities anytime and anywhere. By injecting new vitality into the concept of a "major district in sports" and a "healthy Fengxian," Fengxian District will contribute to the building of Shanghai into a globally renowned sports city. It also aims to embark on a new journey of "creating a beautiful and strong Fengxian."
