Fudan Children's Hospital (Fengxian) Breaks Ground, to Build Five Key Centers Time:2025-06-04
On the morning of May 28, Children's Hospital of Fudan University Fengxian Branch broke ground amid high expectations. This signifies a significant stride toward realizing Fengxian New City's vision of a "15-minute premium medical service circle". Joining the existing International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital Fengxian Branch and the upcoming Xinhua Hospital Fengxian Branch (set to start trial operation in late June), this new top-tier hospital will complete a powerful trio. Together, they will offer specialized services tailored to the unique health needs of pregnant women, children, and adults, ensuring lifecycle care. This will bring top medical expertise closer to residents' doorsteps and boost Fengxian's emergence as a leading healthcare destination in southern Shanghai.
Situated in Jinhu Town, Children's Hospital of Fudan University Fengxian Branch is strategically positioned with Xianpu Road to its east, Wanghe Road to its south, International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital Fengxian Branch to its west, and Yan'gang River to its north. With a total floor area of around 113,000 square meters and designed to accommodate 500 beds, this branch serves as a key component of the National Center for Children's Health. It will synergize with the main hospital in Minhang to ensure uniform management and complementary strengths across disciplines, intensify clinical translational research on rare pediatric diseases and birth defects. It will also deepen collaboration with the nearby International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital Fengxian Branch, prioritizing the development of five key centers.
With a planned construction period of 911 days, this project will bridge the gap in premium pediatric healthcare in this area. While serving the local residents of Fengxian, it will leverage the convenient expressway network, including G1503 and S4, to draw families of pediatric patients from neighboring areas like Jinshan, Songjiang, and Pinghu and Jiaxing of Zhejiang. Ultimately, it will bring top national medical services within easy reach of more pediatric patients.
