From September 5 to 7, 2025, the 32nd National Climbing Championships took place successfully at the Huayan Gecko King National Climbing Demonstration Park in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. As one of the highest-level and most prestigious climbing competitions before the 15th National Games, this event attracted 192 athletes from 21 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country, as well as from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Zhao Yicheng, representing Shanghai, delivered a stunning performance. He claimed the gold medal in the men's speed event with an outstanding time of 4.78 seconds, defending his title in this event for the second consecutive year.

Champion Profile

Zhao Yicheng, born in June 2009, was jointly introduced and trained by the Shanghai Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association and the Fengxian Sports Federation in 2023. He specializes in speed climbing and currently studies at Shanghai Fengxian High School. In 2024, he won the U16 men's speed title at the IFSC Youth World Championships, the men's speed title at the National Climbing Championships, and the men's speed title at the China Climbing League (Shaoxing, Zhejiang). In 2025, he captured the U17 men's speed title at the IFSC Youth World Championships.
