The 18th Shanghai Games will be held from July through November 2026. As the planned organizer for the sailing and windsurfing events, Fengxian District's water athletes are deep in intensive preparation.

On a sun-soaked afternoon at Bihai Jinsha, the sea breeze carries a salty tang across the water. White sailboats weave back and forth along the markers, their sails full with the wind, cutting smooth arcs across the surface. This is the daily training ground of the Fengxian District Sailing and Windsurfing Team and the venue for this year's Shanghai Games sailing and windsurfing competitions.

According to Li Rui, head coach of the Fengxian District Sailing Team, the team's preparation began with this year's winter training. Before the Shanghai Games, the squad traveled to Zhanjiang, Guangdong, for a training camp of more than 30 days. Back in Shanghai, they train every Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. "The overall performance and ability of the team have improved significantly compared with last year," Li said.

With the Shanghai Games approaching, the Fengxian Sailing and Windsurfing Team, competing on home waters, is brimming with confidence. "The sailing and windsurfing events will be held right here at Bihai Jinsha, and we have every advantage: the right time, the right place, and the right team," Li said. "The athletes are in great form right now. We hope they perform at the level they are truly capable of."
