At 4:30 p.m., the closing ceremony and awards presentation for the 2026 National Cable Wakeboard & Wakeskate Championships and National Fitness Competition (Shanghai leg) took place as scheduled. Throughout the event, the country's top athletes gave their all against wind and wave, locking in memorable moments with smooth tricks and steady execution.

Finals day opened under overcast skies, with stiff winds whipping the bay into a choppy, rolling swell that tested every rider's control and timing. Facing the natural obstacles, all competitors kept their composure, adjusted their pace, and leaned on solid technique to tame the elements, delivering high-caliber finals performances.

On the water, Open Division riders were in peak form, executing clean, fluid tricks, including launches, spins, and rotations, to the crowd's delight. The youth ranks attacked with fearless energy, repeatedly pushing past their limits in rough conditions and showcasing the rising strength of China's next generation of water sports talent. Mass-participation riders soaked up the atmosphere, fully embracing the fun of cable waterskiing. Delivered to a high standard, with broad public engagement and strong feedback from all sides, the event fully embodied its core positioning of "elite competition plus mass fitness."

After two days of intense competition, winners across all divisions have been confirmed: Xu Lu, Women's Open; Zhang Wei, Men's Open; Zheng Qingxin, Women's U14; CHONG Ares, Men's U14; Zheng Qingwen, Women's U18; Geng Haoxuan, Men's U18; Wang Ying, Women's Adult Amateur; Zheng Yifeng, Men's Adult Amateur; and Beijing Aishangshui Sports Development Co., Ltd. in the Team Division.

Sixteen-year-old Men's U18 champion Geng Haoxuan, with more than two years of professional training under his belt, will head to Thailand for advanced training after the event, firmly committed to pursuing a career as a professional athlete. Seventeen-year-old Women's U18 champion Zheng Qingwen undertook targeted pre-event training to refine her technique. Competing in Fengxian Bay for the first time, she broke through her limits on choppy seas and unfamiliar obstacles to claim the title.

Seven-year-old CHONG Ares, the youngest competitor in the event, captured the Men's U14 title. Back on the championship circuit for a second straight year, the rising talent from China's Hong Kong also doubled as a mini-commentator between runs, adding a charming footnote to the competition. Fourteen-year-old Yang Cheng-Ya, from a waterskiing family in China's Taiwan, competed away from home for the first time, shaking off the pressure of an away debut to claim the Women's U14 runner-up spot with an impressive performance.

A professional judge team officiated throughout the event. Chief Judge Bi Hongwei was delighted to see a marked improvement in the overall competitive level of domestic riders, with a growing number of newcomers, especially amateur enthusiasts, joining the sport. "The athletes have shown a commendable sporting spirit and professionalism. Competitors are rivals as well as partners; they push each other while cheering each other on," Bi said. He added that many amateur riders can now execute near-professional-level tricks, and the rapid growth of young enthusiasts has been truly impressive.

The successful staging of this event also confirms that China's cable wakeboarding & wakeskating are steadily moving from niche leisure activities toward more standardized, systematic, and mass-participation sports, laying a solid foundation for promoting water sports at the public level and cultivating professional talent.
