MXGP Shanghai thrills fans with high-speed racing Time:2026-09-11
The Shanghai round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship concluded on Sept 13 at Shanghai International Off-Road Circuit in Fengxian district.
Held over three days, the event brought together more than 90 professional riders and 33 teams from 22 countries and regions. The event recorded a total attendance of 56,000, offering fans a thrilling display of motocross racing.
The excitement extended beyond the track. During the event, riders visited Shanghai's West Bund, where they interacted with fans and watched riding demonstrations by young Chinese racers.
"It feels like a little festival, which is really nice. These kids are good, and maybe China will have a world champion in the future," said McLellan.
World champion Jeffrey Herlings of the Honda HRC Petronas team claimed both victories in MXGP, while Triumph Racing Factory Team's Camden McLellan secured one-two in MX2 races.
"I think it’s mainly the people and the differences in culture. This is very different from what we have in Europe, and I really enjoy experiencing different cultures. We raised the world championship, so I think it's very important that we come to these different places," said McLellan on what makes the Shanghai leg special.
